Platinum Studios, Inc. is an entertainment company that
controls the world's largest independent library of comic book characters,
which it adapts and produces for film, television and all other media. With
more than 3,500 characters that have appeared in hundreds of millions of comics
in 25 languages and more than 50 countries, its library is continually
expanding through Platinum's comics acquisition and publishing program.
Platinum has film and television projects set up at every major Hollywood studio, including Disney, DreamWorks SKG, MGM,
Miramax, New Line Cinema, Sony, and Universal, and is recognized as a leader in
comics-based entertainment.
Headquartered in Beverly
Hills, California, Platinum
Studios was founded in 1997 by Scott Mitchell Rosenberg following a successful,
high-profile career in the comic book industry as creator and head of Malibu
Comics. At Malibu Comics, he produced popular, innovative comics lines,
including the Men in Black comic book, which Mr. Rosenberg later brought to
Sony Pictures to become a billion-dollar entertainment franchise.
Platinum Studios works with some of the most interesting and
influential comic book writers and artists from around the world. In addition
to the company's “Macroverse” library of characters and storylines from every
conceivable genre, including comedy, horror, thriller, action-adventure, crime,
science fiction and romantic comedy, Platinum Studios also controls libraries from
leading independent comic book publishers around the world, including Awesome
Comics and top European comic books like Dylan Dog and Legs Weaver. Platinum
also has an exclusive deal with Top Cow Productions, Inc., a leading
independent comics publisher, to develop Top Cow's past, present, and future
comics for film, television and other media. Recently, Platinum acquired the
rights to Europe's largest creator-owned comic
book syndicate, Hexagon Comics, adding hundreds of characters and over 50 years
of publishing history to its already massive library.
